Ever since school started, I’ve been pulling some strange hours. Usually, I crash between 7-9pm and wake up between 4-5am. Might be because of the change of seasons or adapting to a new routine or both. The upside to waking up in the wee hours of the morning is that it’s wonderfully quiet, and I get to see the sunrise over Yokohama. Though I may still be a bit sleepy and groggy, I love waking up with the city in its golden hour.
Because Tokyo is so crowded, loud, and chaotic, I’ve come to cherish the silence of the early morning hours when I can watch the sun slowly cast it’s glow over the city, signaling the start of a new day. It serves as a good reminder to take it slow so I don’t swept up in the city’s fast pace and to take a moment of gratitude before I start the day.
