Sydney is the facade where many visitors are first introduced to Australia, but venture further southeast, one will stumble upon the heart, a more beloved city, a breeding ground for artists where coffee and ideas are brewing 24/7. Welcome to Melbourne!

The locals agree that Melbourne is a better place to live than to simply visit for a few days. The city demands that you get to know it and know it well. What’s lacking in terms of tourist attractions is replaced by art, festivals, and cafe culture. I wanted to take a moment to appreciate Melbourne’s various street art pieces, murals, and¬†graffiti and entice you to visit.

All pictures were taken on a free, one hour walking tour discovered on the Couchsurfing website. The main streets where you can photograph and even leave your own work of art include Hosier Lane (near Flinder’s Street Station), Centre Lane, and Croft Alley in Chinatown.

WARNING: Bright colors featured in the photographs are not safe for early morning hours/tired eyes.

    1. Right? There are some very talented artists in Melbourne, and it’s awesome that they get to create/de-stress in a way everyone can enjoy!
